The PPRD Med mission in Tunis at the ONCP aimed to achieve various objectives, including a meeting with DG ONCP, presenting PPRD Med activities, discussing Derna results, reviewing decisions from the October 2023 Barcelona meeting, engaging in discussions on ONCP priorities, and presenting the roadmap by UCPM and PPRD Med.
During the mission, presentations by ONCP Tunisia and PPRD Med were delivered, involving experts in meteorology and forestry. Key points included ECHO's introduction on the strategic interest of PPRD Med, the presentation of PPRD data Platform from the Derna use case, and ONCP's interest in preparedness and risk monitoring.
ONCP presented OPSFLOW, covering tools for:
- forest fires,
- flooding / flashflooding,
- seismic events,
- and technological risks.
PPRD Med introduced the 3-layered PPRD Med platform, offering embedded tools for ONCP, and presented the Peer Review (2019), and the SNACR for risk analysis among other relevant documents. The meeting concluded with plans for training, workshops, and a beta version of the PPRD Med platform by June 2024.
The conclusions highlighted a focus on new satellite-derived technologies, with plans to implement PPRD Med Platform in layers 2 and 3. ONCP committed to defining a flooding use case, potentially involving a cross-boundary demo with Algeria. A follow-up meeting was recommended, involving ONCP, Centre de Recherches et des Technologies des Eaux, (CERTE), Meteorology National Centre (INM), and La Direction Generale des Forets
